Our upstream supplier, GSL, has reported an outage affecting the ASC submarine cable system between Perth and Singapore.
GSL observed several brief cable flaps from approximately 1:50 PM AEST on 4 September 2026, followed by a complete outage at approximately 4:19 PM AEST.
The Indigo West submarine cable is currently also offline for shunt fault repairs. With both cable systems unavailable, international traffic between Australia and Singapore is being rerouted via longer alternative paths. This is expected to result in higher latency to Singapore and some other international destinations, particularly for services originating from Western Australia.
GSL is currently requesting additional updates from the cable operator (Vocus).
GSL is awaiting further information from Vocus regarding the ASC outage. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as more information becomes available.
